CMVC is a contemporary live music and arts space situated in the heart of Hita, a regional town well-known for its historic atmosphere that is also home to a small but well cultivated music scene. The passion project of a flamboyant local businessman, CMVC exemplifies the possibilities for creativity that lie outside of Japan's urban centers. Amongst the owner's unwavering commitment is his sound system with which he has crafted a superb acoustic environment. This is most evident at CMVC’s monthly club night, the Boutique - a name that references the building's original use as a fashion emporium. This regular event showcases a rotating roster of special guests with sounds ranging through jazz, funk and soul, with the night usually rounding out with deep and minimal house. Younger locals are also given the chance to polish their creative and their DJ-ing skills.
